I have recently purchased Melaleuca’s Sol-U-Mel and I love it, and I know that you can use it to treat stains on carpets, but is it safe to use in a steam cleaner?
I have cream colored carpet, and while there are no food/drink/etc stains, there are some blackish stains in the higher traffic areas.
I have a Bissell ProHeat 2X and I have tried all of the Bissell products and while they initially work, a few days later, I guess after everything has fully dried, some of the spots return. I usually do 2-3 passes with the steam cleaner.
I have also tried the "old school" method of ammonia and laundry detergent which works a little better, but still, the black spots return and I also have pets. Not to mention, I am 5 months pregnant and don’t need to deal with ammonia.
So does anyone know if I can use Sol U Mel in my cleaner. Sure, I could spot clean but that would take me almost as long to do as just steaming the whole living room. If so, do you use it full strength or diluted? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
I’m thinking of starting a residential cleaning business and I’m going to call local cleaning businesses and see how much they charge but I wanted to ask, how much would you pay? Would you want to pay by the hour or pay by the duty? I’m talking it would include laundry if need be, washing dishes, windows, bathroom, vacuuming, making beds, possibly organizing and even steam cleaning the carpet.
My 3 year old grandaughter took a gallon of milk and poured it all onto the carpet in a 18 inch circle. I have tryed steam cleaning it and I,ve tryed Pinesol,Gain laundry soap,Dawn dish washing soap,Fabreeze and still it smells really bad and its making the whole room reak. I aloud the carpet to dry after each cleaning attempt but it smells like soured milk and I,m lost and I need some good advice .Has anyone else ever had this happen to them and if so what did you use to clean it up with.
I know the milk did reach the pad and pulling the carpet up is not an option.
it was a lot of detergent–pretty much a full costco jug. it fell off a shelf and pooled on an area of carpet about 2′ x 3′ and the adjacent wall. the carpet is very low-cut, < 1/4′. for now, we put some towel on it to soak up the excess.
do we need to call professional cleaners? should we just rent a steam cleaner? can we just soak the area with water/oxy clean solution/hydrogen peroxide/etc.? do we just air dry or fan dry? obviously, the most cost-effective solution is the bestest.
my biggest concern is mold–we have a 2 year-old, and my wife has a mild case of asthma as well. preserving the color of the carpet would be nice, but is not that important.
and no, getting rid of the mother-in-law is not an option. she cooks and cleans way too well, heh heh.
upon the advice of a friend who flips houses, i lifted up the carpet and the detergent had seeped to the floorboard underneath and the adjacent wall, leaking such that there were traces on the light switch on the floor below.
do i need professional remediation or can i just bleach the heck out of the wall and paint it over?
Hi, today I emptied out half a bottle of "ultra concentrated, bleach alternative" liquid laundry detergent onto my apartment carpet. The carpet is light gray and the detergent is dark blue and now there is a pretty big blue stain. Any ideas short of getting the whole thing shampooed or steam cleaned? If I start scrubbing away with water will that make it better or worse? Thanks.
I need to wash the carpet but don’ t have any steam cleaner shampoo! I can’t get any for a while and the carpet needs cleaning soon! My boyfriend’s friend puked on his couches and carpet too.
The best way to clean a steam iron is with a mixture of vinegar and baking soda, which should be applied with a nice, clean cloth. I am out of laundry soap and do not have time to go to store and back to get more – I need to improvise…
I have steam cleaner Carpet Extraction liquid which is low-foaming and color-safe for carpets… It is concentrated so I know I would only use a little bit – But is it OK to use in a washing machine?? Does anyone know? I also have dish soap but I know that is too sudsy and can be too harsh for clothes.
Your opinions please – what do you think? Shall I try it??
