If you have a steam iron, do you have to empty the water out of the iron after each use or else will it corrode the surface of the iron? Or does leaving the water in the iron do nothing?

Hello,
I plugged in my steam iron, and smoke immediately came out of the electrical outlet. I pulled it out, thinking that the outlet was the problem, plugged it into another one, and the same thing happened. What does it mean when an electrical device does this? Can it be fixed?

I run a small tailoring outfit and I’m trying to decide what capacity I would need to carry a 1440W steam iron, a few fluourescent lights, about 5 sewing machines and a couple of fans about 65W each. I’m not certain of the wattage a sewing machine requires or fluourescent lights.

Using an industrial steam iron (Silver Star brand) which is steaming fine. But after the steam comes out it leaks a rust-colored fluid onto the fabric.

Hi,

I have a Morphy Richards Steam Iron, m,odel number 40654 and it is completely blocked with lime scale. Being a cheap skate, I would rather not fork out anoter £35 on a new iron so was wondering if anyone knew of any tips on descaling irons.

I have searched on Google for user manuals for the iron but no joy so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Hello: Can anyone tell me how to clean a steam iron? I’ve got a lot of hard burned stuff on it and I dont know what to clean it with. I tried comet cleanser but that doesnt work well. Also, how can I get my vertical venetian blinds clean? Do I have to clean them one at a time? Oh, I certainly hope not.

Jewelry steam cleaners are expensive. So, I’m wondering if I can use the steam from a steam iron to clean my jewelry in the same way. Has anyone tried this? I’m wondering if this would actually work…or if it is not recommended.
